Balmain SS21

In case you missed it, it’s Paris fashion week and that means an array of unique experiences of fashion in a pandemic. I recently had the pleasure of watching Oliver Rousteing’s newest collection for Balmain. A traditional fashion show with an innovative twist, they put on a virtual live stream wherein attendees could shop the collection (a part of which was made sustainably) all from the comfort of their own homes.

The live stream kicked off with shots of people settling into their chairs, a way for the rest of us to truly feel like we were a part of the action. The extremely jazzy and bold collection was a wistful reminder of a pre-COVID time, where we had somewhere to go in clothing like such. It had a little bit of everything for everyone. Blazers reimagined over and over, Balmain’s signature print, folded clutches, and funky sneakers; each silhouette was geometric with a decent sense of fluidity. It was a true embodiment of French sophistication.

The vibe was started off futuristic, with pointed shoulders and flared legs; and it ended on a nostalgic note of beach dresses leaving us yearning for the lost summer once more. Here are some of my favorite looks of this season:
