Bibhu Mohapatra debuted his FW20 collection at NYFW in collaboration with Narayan Jewellers and their Empress collection. The collection, inspired by the strong women throughout history showcased a creative balance between elegance and extravagance; embodying a modern Bibhu woman that continues to pay homage to her roots.
It was refreshing to see such a great mix of styles that still come together cohesively as a whole. The excitement in the crowd and gasps as models walked down the runway encapsulates the opulence put forth by each look. What stood apart was the variety of unconventional yet flattering necklines, hemlines, sleeves and waists and the sumptuous jewelry and accessories that went with it.
With a mix of fall silhouettes and fabrics and couture evening gowns, this selection celebrated his Indian heritage through his combination of styles and design. Taking inspiration from natural and architectural elements as well, the collection provided the perfect amalgamation of structure and flow, truly allowing the models to own and feel comfortable in each intricately tailored creation.
